October 2006

Congratulations Lynda and Joe for winning second place for your spaghetti sauce at the Annual Reno Italian Festival! We hear that it's an awesome secret family recipe - hope we can make it to the festival next year and check it out! Congratulations, too on winning first place for your booth decorations - sounds like a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday Aunt Bonnie - hope it's the beginning of a great year for you! Rumor also has it that you're going to be a "Great Grandma" - again! Congratulations Brandon and Christie!

Janet Buell, long time friend of Jan's, is leaving her job to spend full time promoting her new book (The Emotional First Aid Manual) and teaching classes based on the subject matter behind it. Even though the official release date isn't until November 1st, it is available for advance sales on Amazon.com. The publisher will be holding a special event the week of October 16th where autographed copies will be available at a special reduced rate. If you are interested in a copy, check out the publisher's URL (innovationspress.net) the week of the 16th.

Eddie's also having a birthday at the end of this month. Happy Birthday Eddie! We sure enjoyed your visit - sorry about the 9 mile hike! ;=) You can check out the pictures here.

We enjoyed your visit, Nicole and Cassie, to help us celebrate Granny's birthday last month. We had a great dinner at the Owl Grill - also had a great lunch at one of Granny's local favorites - IHOP! Thanks for being a good sport Granny (aka Gypsy or Mom!)
Congratulations Ken (Mercurio) on your long awaited retirement! Isn't it great to ride your bike in the morning and take naps in the afternoon? It's interesting to note, though, that free time seems to be more scarce when one is retired! Anyway, happy trails!

Are those bells we hear off in the distance? Erin and Shawn are seriously looking for places to tie the knot! Way to go, guys!

George and Jan finally checked out the "5 Mile House" restaurant for dinner and it was great! The macadamia crusted Mahi is highly recommended!

October seems to be a busy month for birthdays...the Meade brothers...Ryan and Donovan are also celebrating a birthday! January must have been a cold month!

Have a spooky Halloween!
