Question:
Who or what is Chez Tonner? Answer: Chez Tonner means "The Tonner Home" in French. Chez Tonner is a family website...a way of keeping our family and "significant others" together "virtually" - since there are so many miles between us "geographically". Jan is the webmaster but each member contributes ideas and designs to his own site. Some pages contain Java. We realize that WEBTV and some browsers do not support Java but it is very widely used and creates some very interesting effects. We apologize to our WEBTV friends and will try to find "workarounds" when possible. Question: Where can I get that trailing butterfly cursor? Answer: The program is called the "Trailing Cursor Script" and it was created by Brian Caputo. You can find it at Dynamicdrive.com. It was originally created with circles and the butterflies do not come with it but you can substitute your own graphics - directions are included with the script. Question: Can I use the cursor on my desktop? Answer: No (according to Brian it won't work that way). Question: Where Can I find the applets that you use on your pages? Answer: Most of the applets I use come from Fabio Ciucci's site Anfy Java. Some other good resources for java applets are Gamelan, Java Boutique and Web Developers Journal. Question: How can I forward one of your pages to someone? Answer: First check for a button on the page that says "Click Here To Send This Page To A Friend". This is a form that gets sent to an email program on our server that will forward the URL to your list of friends. Please do not forget to add your name and email address on the first line so that your contacts will not think we are "spamming". We do not collect email addresses. Question: Why do I just see little squares instead of butterflies or just blank spots where the pictures should be? Answer: If you didn't get an error message then I suspect that the page is not completely downloaded. Try again...second time may be a charm ;-) Question: Why can't I get your home page and/or why are the others taking so long to download? Answer: Many thanks go to Charles (a most valued family member) for hosting our website, and for being very attentive to any problems we may encounter. He has alleviated the problem by adding more bandwidth, so if you are experiencing long download times it may be due to a heavy traffic period, a slow connection, or AOL (oops sorry, didn't mean to say that!). Question: I have sent you email messages but never got a response. Why don't you answer your email? Answer: We are so sorry if your message went unanswered...we read and appreciate all the email...unfortunately some of it got buried. Question: Is there any way that I can visit your web page without getting into the Comet Cursors program? I ended up with the cursors on my PC and did not want them. Had a miserable time getting them off. Answer: We have removed all Comet Cursors from our site. If you find one we missed, please let us know. FYI: If you don't have the Comet Cursor program already installed on your computer and you come across a web page that contains Comet Cursors, you will be given the option to install the program. All you have to do is say no. You can still see the page, you just won't see the special cursor. If you need more help with Comet Cursors, please visit their site at: http://www.cometsystems.com Question: What is the name of that song? And where can I get it? Answer: The MIDI file on the Butterfly page is "Music Box Dancer" originally recorded by Frank Mills. The WMA file on the Love page is Castle On A Cloud from the Love On Broadway CD by Maureen Love. It is a Windows Media File and may not be able to be heard by all computers. If you have Windows and can't hear the music, a Windows Media upgrade might do the trick. The MIDI file on the home page is Bard Dance by Enya. Some of the others are: Griefs - One Man's Dream by Yanni Flowers - Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins Haunted Palace - Creepy by unknown...anybody know? Spring - The Forrest Gump Song Question: What is the name of the castle on the Haunted Palace Page? Answer: The castle is Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria Germany from a photo © Hans Peter Merten / Tony Stone Images. Note: If you have a "worldly cat" and a cute picture you would like to share, we would love to make your feline a star in our Worldly Cats section. Just send us an email with the cat's name, the owner's name, and the cat's location, and attach the photo. |
